WELLNESS PROGRAMME
The RCC wellness programme is a proactive and holistic intervention programme that is aimed to attain a productive workforce through individual and organisational interventions and mitigating the effects of ill-health/injuries among employees and assisting employees towards a state of wellness that encompasses physical, emotional, social and spiritual health.
The RCC Wellness programme was officially launched on the 08th October 2010 by Hon Erkki Nghimtina the Minister of Works and Transport.
THE PROGRAMME CONSISTS OF THREE (3) COMPONENTS:
MEDICAL EXAMINATIONS
Objective:
To ensure optimum health for all employees and correct job allocation

Focus Areas:
1. Pre- Employment Medical Examination
Prospective employees will be medically examined before taking up a job with RCC (HIV /AIDS excluded) to determine their ability to perform their duties.
2. Periodic Medical Examination/Medical Surveillance
To make sure that the working environment does not negatively affect the employees’ health status. It is also aimed to mitigate the impact of occupational health diseases.

4. Incapacity Medical Examination
Employees who are continuously absent from duties due to illness are sent for medical examination to ensure that they receive proper medical care. It also determines whether an employee is able to continue performing the same duties or he/she needs to be transferred to other duties or he/she needs to be medically boarded.
5. Exit Medical Examination
To make sure that the health status of an employee who is about to leave the company is still up to standard.
HIV/AIDS AND CHRONIC DISEASE MANAGEMENT
Objective:
To determine the health status of all the employees and ensure proper management of chronic diseases and to minimise and mitigate the impact of HIV/AIDS.

We conduct bi-annual voluntary and anonymous HIV/AIDS screening for all RCC employees to monitor the spread of the disease among employees.

We provide continuous education and information on prevention, treatment, care and support to all employees.

|
We have established referral systems for counselling and other relevant medical services.
|
Weight Management
We conduct bi-annual measurement of body mass index and cholesterol levels among all employees and provide education and information on diet, body exercise and other relevant measures to prevent and manage the negative effect of obesity.
Alcohol /Substance abuse/Smoking
We provide continuous education and information on the negative effect of alcohol, substance abuse/smoking and promote healthy lifestyle and good habits.
Chronic Disease
We provide bi-annual screening of all chronic diseases e.g. diabetes, blood pressure and cancer (cervical cancer) to determine the pace on which employees are acquiring such disease and to continuously educate them about the possible preventative measures and proper management of such disease(s).
NUTRITIONAL PROGRAMME
Objective:

To encourage and support proper nutrition for all employees through the provision of food supplement and education which includes; food hygiene, personal hygiene and environmental hygiene.

We provide proper cooking utensils for our projects employees especially those who live on campsite.
|
|
|
We improve the quality of drinking water especially water from bore holes by providing proper tanks for transport and storage as well as water purification tablets.
